In a ceremony surrounded by family and close friends, media mogul Rupert Murdoch married Elena Zhukova, a 67-year-old retired molecular biologist, at his Californian vineyard on Friday.
Murdoch's office confirmed the nuptials, stating that the couple had intended to marry for some time. Zhukova, a Russian-born molecular biologist, emigrated to the US in 1991 and retired from her profession.
The couple reportedly met through a mutual friend and have been dating for several years. Zhukova has been described as a "kind and intelligent woman" who is "very supportive" of Murdoch.
This is Murdoch's fifth marriage. He was previously married to Patricia Boyle, Anna Torv, Wendi Deng, and Jerry Hall. Murdoch has six children from his previous marriages.
The wedding ceremony was reportedly a private and intimate affair, with only a handful of guests in attendance. Murdoch's children and grandchildren are said to have been among those present.
